Ontario online casinos: finding a legal site

Desk research · hands-on test pending. Everything below comes from regulator registers and operator pages we read on 28 Oct 2026. We have not yet made deposits or timed withdrawals. Where a fact is unknown we say not yet tested. Sponsored placements are labelled and never change a ProofScore (how we make money).

Ontario has run a regulated, competitive iGaming market since 4 April 2022. Operators register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. Players must be 19 or older. Bonus advertising is restricted, and athletes have been banned from gambling ads since 2024.

Our honest position

We haven’t yet checked which of our 10 reviewed brands appear on iGaming Ontario’s list of regulated operators. Several, including LeoVegas, bet365, Betway, 888 and PokerStars, have been widely reported as active in Ontario. But “reported” isn’t verified, and Ontario sites usually run on separate domains and companies from the UK or Malta versions we reviewed. So we’re not publishing an Ontario ranking yet. This page shows you how to check for yourself.

How to confirm a site is legal in Ontario

  1. Open iGaming Ontario’s regulated market page and its list of operators and sites.

  2. Check that the exact domain you’re on (often ending in “/on” or “.ca”) appears there.

  3. Look for the iGaming Ontario mark in the footer, then confirm it against the list, because a logo can be copied.

  4. Be careful with “.com” versions of big brands. An international site serving Ontario players without registration is unregulated in Ontario, even if the brand is licensed elsewhere.

What changes on Ontario sites

  • Age: 19+.

  • Bonuses: operators can’t advertise inducements publicly; offers usually appear only after you log in.

  • Payments: Interac is common. We haven’t tested any Ontario cashier yet.

  • Disputes: complaints go to the operator first, then the AGCO.

  • Responsible gambling: registered operators must offer limits and self-exclusion tools.

Brands we’ve reviewed (non-Ontario versions)

For background on the companies behind them, our reviews cover their UK and Malta operations. Scores, bonuses and terms apply to those markets, not necessarily to Ontario:

Rest of Canada

Outside Ontario, most provinces run their own monopoly site (for example PlayNow, Espacejeux or PlayAlberta). Alberta opened a licensed online casino market on 13 July 2026. See our Canada guide and all countries.

Why we won’t rank until verified

A ranking implies we’ve confirmed each site is legal for you. Ranking a brand whose Ontario registration we haven’t checked could send readers to an unregulated “.com” site. Once we’ve matched each brand’s Ontario domain to the iGaming Ontario list, we’ll score those sites with ProofScore and publish a ranked list here.

Check any casino yourself in five minutes

  1. Scroll to the footer and note the licensee company name and licence number.

  2. Search that number on the regulator’s own register: UKGC, MGA, iGaming Ontario, Spelinspektionen, KSA. A logo alone proves nothing.

  3. Confirm the domain you’re on is the one listed on the register.

  4. Read the withdrawal section of the terms: minimums, maximums, fees, and how long “pending” can last.

  5. Search the regulator’s enforcement or news pages for the company name. We list any actions we found in each review.
